May 15th Twitter Conversation: Jack Cabantuan, Kevin Cotter, Joey Burgard, and Naomi Vo

On May 15th, our group staged a Twitter conversation about topics relevant to this weeks class. Our main focus was digital dirt and how employers are using social media to their benefit. We discussed the idea that more employers these days are basing a portion of their hiring process of applicants based on their online presence. We incited a conversation about this topic by sharing links and asking questions. The following screenshots are examples of this:

As the conversation developed further, we steered the topic toward current events. The discussion we had was focused primarily around employee’s rights to privacy. We shared our opinions about whether or not employees should have to surrender their passwords to their employers. The following screenshots are examples of the responses:

Overall, we felt that we produced an interactive conversation that was a success. Each person contributed equally to the conversation and we all learned about digital dirt in the process. The one negative side to our conversation was that we did not host it on a day of class, so therefore we did not receive much participation from other users.
